What is The Birth?
The Birth is a theatrical production, nay, theatrical event occurring each Christmas season in Charlotte, NC. The brainchild of actor Nathan Rouse as inspired by the writings of author Frederick Buechner, the show seeks to usher the audience into an encounter with the characters of the Christmas story – their hurts, their humanity – and see themselves reflected back as we all come to grips with what The Birth meant and means. This year The Birth will be performed at The Actor’s Theatre of Charlotte.

I just bumped into The Birth on the Buechner Institute website. I am so sorry to have missed this years’ productions. I resonate totally with Nathan’s vision and what has apparently come together from this vision. Can’t wait until Christmas arrives in 2009. Doug Kracht, Columbia, SC.
